Golden Hour 2023
Theme: Love, Loss & Letting Go | Year: 2023 | Participated In: DC 2023, NATCOMP 2023
Golden Hour 2023 captures the evolution of love — from its most radiant moment to the heartbreak that follows when truth is revealed.
The show opens with the warmth of JVKE’s golden hour, where every movement reflects tenderness, nostalgia, and connection. The performers move in harmony, expressing a love that feels timeless and pure, bathed in golden light.
As the program progresses, that warmth begins to fade. At the transition point — the line “Girl, you’re such a fake” — the tone shifts dramatically. The second half, set to this is what heartbreak feels like, unveils deception and emotional collapse. The choreography becomes sharper, the flags turn red, and the performers’ once-synchronized forms break into chaos.
Yet within that heartbreak lies clarity. The show concludes with acceptance: learning to let go, to forgive, and to grow. The final scene, framed in fading light, symbolizes freedom — understanding that endings are not failures, but the beginning of strength and renewal.
Golden Hour 2023 is not merely a story of love lost; it’s a reflection of how pain can shape resilience, and how beauty can still exist in goodbye.
